Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev considered the OSCE Field Assessment Mission in Nagorno-Karabakh to be positive. He said this, speaking at a meeting of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers.
“The mission that took place days ago should make comparisons and reflect in its report also the current destruction and crimes. I hope that that the report will be fair and objective,” he said.
At the same time, he was sure that the report “won’t be balanced, since during negotiations, often the mediators based their activities on a balanced approach.”
“But in this area, there can’t be talk of balance. This is our country, where Armenians have destroyed all the buildings, leaving no stone left unturned,” he said.
As for the settlement of the conflict, the Azerbaijani leader once again said that Baku won’t make concessions in this issue, and threatened to solve the problem by using its military potential.
According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan has a principled position, from which it will not retreat, not even a single step. “The issue must be resolved in the frames of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. Building up our military capabilities, we will resolve the issue,” he said.
Aliyev considered the Nagorno-Karabakh issue to be one of demographics: “Azerbaijan’s population today is more than 9 million. While in Armenia, a mass migration is taking place.”
