Armenian National Congress to Receive Response from City Hall Tomorrow

Yerevan City Hall today discussed the request for a permit for a Feb. 18 rally by the Armenian National Congress (HAK) to be held in Liberty Square.

Representatives of the opposition bloc said they submitted the request on Jan. 31. On the same day, the municipality posted a notice on its website stating that sport and cultural events were planned to take place in the contested square from Feb. 15 through to Mar. 10.

After today’s meeting, city hall promised to inform HAK by tomorrow morning at 9:12 am its decision to grant or deny the group a permit.

According to an official city hall representative, two events are set to occur concurrently in Liberty Square during the second half of the day on Feb. 18.
