The last time People’s Party leader Tigran Karapetyan met with Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan was a year ago.
Speaking to journalists and responding to reports that he has been actively in contact with Tsarukyan, Karapetyan said there’s no contact between them.
“Jamanak daily, Chorord Inqnishkhanutyun and Haykakan Jamanak have begun a campaign against me; tomorrow they might say I’ve met with Mao Tse Tung in the netherworld. If they’ve begun a campaign, then they’re afraid,” said Karapetyan.
During the rally, Karapetyan said that the Armenian National Congress (HAK) has been calling on him to join HAK. Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”) reporter Syuzanna Poghosyan asked Karapetyan whether he’d had any official meetings with HAK representatives and who asked him to join them.
“Ay, you’re the one writing, your paper’s the one writing [presumably, reports not favorable to Karapetyan],” fumed Karapetyan.
“What are we writing, for you to join us [the paper]?” the journalist asked.
“Yeah right, I should join your grandma. You know what, don’t be like Bulgaria’s papers, which write every sort of fiction, thief, bandit. You’re thieves, Levon Ter-Petrossian’s a thief, that he pillaged everything, they shut down 1,500 factories. Levon Ter-Petrossian is fighting against me; I’m fighting against [RA President] Serzh Sargsyan and against the entire ruling authorities,” he said.
The People’s Party leader added that he accepts HAK but not HHSh (Pan-Armenian National Movement), and he has a good opinion of Nikol Pashinyan, he sympathizes with him.
“You just insulted Nikol Pashinyan’s journalist and you consider that sympathy toward Nikol Pashinyan?” the journalist asked Karapetyan.
“But what insult did I make, is ‘grandma’ a bad word, don’t you have a grandma, god willing, you will,” he responded.
