In the opinion of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF-D or Dashnaktsutyun) parliamentary faction leader Vahan Hovhannisyan, an extremely positive or extremely negative take on the Mar. 5 meeting of the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in Sochi is groundless, as “almost nothing new happened there.”
The only thing that was “new” was that a special investigation regarding ceasefire violations along the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact is to be launched.
“In this case, I think that it wouldn’t be possible to carry out such an investigation without the participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities. If this investigation is actually carried out, it will be a positive move. But I don’t believe that Azerbaijan honestly wants to implement this because 98% of ceasefire violation cases happen from Azerbaijan’s side,” he said.
