Young Armenian Soldier Shoots Himself. Criminal Case Launched (updated)

On the night of Mar. 21–22, in Hadrut military base, military recruit Jirayr Minasyan, 18, shot and injured himself with a machine gun. A case under Article 365 Section 1 of the RA Criminal Code (violation of combat duty or combat service regulations) has been initiated.

This news was conveyed to Epress.am by senior officer with the Special Investigative Service public relations department Mery Sargsyan.

As RA Ministry of Defense press spokesperson Davit Karapetyan told Epress.am later, the young conscript is in “serious condition with signs of improvement” at Yerevan’s Muratsan military hospital.
