Israel’s National Security Council, in its fight against terror, has published a list of nations — which includes Armenia and Georgia — that Israelis should avoid during the upcoming Passover break. According to the statement, in these countries there is a danger that Israeli citizens might be kidnapped by Hezbollah or Hamas members.
As noted on the headquarters’ official website, there is a “specific threat” in these two former Soviet bloc countries. Most likely the reason for this is both countries’ close relations with Iran, reports news portal IzRus.
Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, the Persian Gulf Emirates, Kenya and Nigeria, reports Ynetnews, are also on the travel warning list, while IzRus reports that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan are also included.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. Israel state headquarters issued a similar warning in February of this year for Israeli citizens traveling to the three South Caucasus countries (among others). The earlier warning against possible terror attacks on Israelis followed the eve of the third anniversary of the death of Imad Mughniyah, known to have been the head of the military wing of Hezbollah.
According to the recent statement, Israeli nationals staying in these nations are advised to keep a low profile, travel by air and limit activity to the daytime.
