Our target and our opponent is exclusively the ruling authorities; we have no intention, desire or aim to get involved in other, meaningless debates.
The above statement was made by Armenian National Congress (HAK) press spokesperson Arman Musinyan, who, upon Epress.am’s request, commented on a statement made at a press conference today by Heritage Party vice chair Ruben Hakobyan (pictured) that “the political arena is on the threshold of serious rearrangements, the beginning of which was the Mar. 17 rally. It turned out in the outcome, upon PACE representative [John] Prescott’s intervention, dialogue began between [HAK leader] Levon Ter-Petrossian and [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan.”
Epress.am also received comments on the same matter from Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) press spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov, who said he doesn’t comment on statements that are far from or have nothing to do with reality.
“Lately, our Heritage [Party] colleagues have been making many such sensational statements. The closer they get to the 2012 [parliamentary] elections, the more such statements there will be. We’ve always said, President Serzh Sargsyan stated that he’s always ready for dialogue without preconditions with all [political] entities, and this is the only path to democracy. Now it becomes obvious that the struggle is mainly among the opposition and Hakobyan’s statement is due to the desire to possess the opposition electorate,” he said.
