By Denying the Armenian Genocide, Turkey Isolates Itself Politically: Expert

A majority of the major European powers and EU members recognize and condemn the Genocide of the Armenian people and in this sense it’s not about putting pressure on Turkey, but how to force Turkey to change its policy and admit the obvious, said professor in the Faculty of Philosophy and head of the Department of Theory and Philosophy of Politics at St. Petersburg State University Vladimir Gutorov, who participated in the Apr. 25–26 international conference in Yerevan titled “Armenian-Turkish relations: their impact on geopolitical development in the region and media coverage.”

According to expert, the longer Turkey doesn’t recognize the obvious, the more the country “puts itself in a position of political isolation, because there is a certain tendency in some circles in Turkey to become part of Europe.”

Gutorov noted that it was clear that Turkey will never become a part of Europe without admitting this crime and not taking responsibility, as Germany did.

He called “stupid” articles he’s come across in Turkish media that “the Armenian people, relying on some ‘dark forces,’ wants to create a Greater Armenia and seize the Tigris and Euphrates.”
