Why Statues at Armenian Presidential Residence were Moved: Spokesperson

The various comments heard concerning the removal of the statues of Tigran Mets (Tigran the Great) and Noah the Patriarch from the courtyard of the Armenian presidential residence are absurd, said RA president spokesperson Armen Arzumanyan, responding to a question by Epress.am as to why the statues were being moved.

“Improvement work is being carried out in the area adjacent to the RA president’s residence and upon the advise of experts, the statues will be moved to another area of the area adjacent to the RA president’s residence. In this sense, the various comments are simply absurd,” he said.

Note, local media reports today indicated that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan decided to get rid of former president Robert Kocharian’s legacy — by dismantling the statues that were placed there during Kocharian’s term in office.
