HHK Ready to Defend HAK’s Realistic Suggestions in Parliament: Sharmazanov

“We have always welcomed and continue to welcome a work style that moves forward through discussing problems and finding solutions,” said ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) press secretary Eduard Sharmazanov in a press release issued today.

It’s already been quite a while that dialogue has been underway with the extra-parliamentary opposition, he said, which he considered satisfactory.

“Taking place is open, public [dialogue], before everyone’s eyes, the positive results of which are clear. And today we have a situation where, the extra-parliamentary opposition’s views and proposals can also be widely taken into account in resolving the various problems in our country. I believe that we have to be able to maintain such positive developments and the established environment, for which the desire of all parties and joint efforts are necessary. The parties must be able to be constructive constantly and at every step; not to lead the process to a deadlock with their moves,” said Sharmazanov.

The HHK spokesperson also emphasized that the proposal for pre-term elections is not only without grounds, but also dangerous — beginning from the view of inhibiting moving positive developments forward.

“Suggestions leading nowhere from the opposition arena’s monopolist positions—I don’t believe that HAK [the Armenian National Congress] will be able to make a positive contribution toward resolving the issues concerning our people. The authorities are truly inclined toward being constructive and have the right to expect also the same from HAK. All of the Armenian National Congress’ proposals in the economic, social, political, geopolitical or any other sector,… Armenia’s corresponding state agencies and departments are prepared for a discussion and joint solutions. Let me say also, all those suggestions by the Armenian National Congress, as an extra-parliamentary opposition, which, being realistic, will assist in minimizing our people’s worries and will require legislative solutions, the Republican Party [of Armenia] is ready to raise and defend them on their behalf in the National Assembly,” concludes Sharmazanov’s statement to the press.
