Armenian Tourists to Prefer Antalya Again This Year: Aravot

Last year there was a campaign emphasized at the government level against Antalya: those Armenians who preferred to fill Turkey’s budget were called traitors to and enemies of the nation, but the facts revealed that 50,000 Armenian tourists again preferred to vacation in Antalya, writes local daily Aravot (“Morning”).

The Yerevan-based newspaper reports that this year, if Georgia once again increases its rates and if offers from Egypt, Bulgaria, Spain and the United Arab Emirates aren’t affordable, the majority of Armenian tourists will depart for Turkey’s resort towns and cities. In the opinion of Traveler’s Club Travel NGO Armen Yeranosyan, there won’t be a drop in the number of Armenian nationals departing for Antalya this year. “Travel agencies have already begun [launching] their attractive ads — that’s a great force and spurs Armenians to go vacation in Turkey.”

The daily also emphasizes the fact that apart from Antalya, the Turkish port city of Bodrum is also in great demand and no matter how much Armenian state figures endeavor otherwise, Armenians in this region will be making quite a large investment into Turkey’s budget.
