A fire broke out in the area adjacent to Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial at around 3:30 pm today. Two fire trucks arrived on the scene to put out the blaze.
Speaking to Epress.am, Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Director Hayk Demoyan said the affected area is separated from the genocide memorial area by a barbed wire fence and belongs to the water utility companies.
“The memorial has nothing to do with that area — the fire caught in the aquatic farm area. There, there are dried grass, trees, and most likely, someone threw a cigarette and it started the fire. The area is not that large — about 50 square meters. Our employees are now helping the firefighters,” he said a few hours ago.
