His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, will not be responding to the statement about him made by His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, taking into consideration the latter’s age and experience.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin’s position was conveyed by Chancellor of the Mother See, Bishop Arshak Khachatryan at a press conference in Yerevan today.
As previously reported, the Georgian patriarch, during his Sunday sermon, said the Armenian patriarch is a “young man” and “probably should get more experience”:
“He’s smart, but he wants to do everything quickly, which doesn’t work. I told him I have more experience, so it is best to stay calm,” he said.
