People’s Artist of Russia, composer Karen Khachaturian died in Moscow on Jul. 19, at the age of 91, said Composers’ Union of Russia press secretary Andrei Ustinov, reports BBC Russian.
Khachaturian was born on Sept. 19, 1920, and was the nephew of world-famous composer Aram Khachaturian.
Karen Khachaturian wrote music for dozens of feature and animated films. In 1981, he received the People’s Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) award.
