Georgia was able to achieve the impossible, to eradicate crime and “thieves’ mentality,” and now it is the safest country in Europe, said Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili in Batumi on Monday.
“We easily got used to the fact that Georgia is a well-groomed, clean country, that there’s no corruption here and very little crime… I would like to remind you that our country is the safest in Europe, and thus one of the safest in the world. All this was done by today’s generation of Georgia — it was just us and no one else in the world,” he said.
According to Saakashvili, Georgia was able to achieve this despite a substantial part of its territory being occupied, and 10% of its population displaced.
“Amid all this, Georgia has done the impossible… The more I travel, the more I see, the more I notice, I understand that we are on the right track and we are ahead of many around us,” he said.
