Two Men Chased by Police Caught, One Man Jumped to his Death: Witness Testimonies and Unconfirmed Reports

The two men in the Mercedes that crashed into a pole on Myasnikyan Ave. in Yerevan after being chased by police earlier this morning have been arrested. An eyewitness conveyed this news to the Epress.am correspondent on the scene.

Police say that one of the wanted criminals, attempting to flee, climbed the nearby cliff and jumped to his death.

According to our sources, another member of the group succeeded in getting away. Law enforcement officials continue the search for the unidentified man in downtown Yerevan. Armed with bullet-proof vests and automatic weapons, they are stopping and searching vehicles in the Armenian capital.

Unconfirmed reports say that the criminal syndicate robbed and attacked a high-ranking official of the Lincy Foundation nearly six months ago.

At this time, Epress.am is only aware of rumors which declare that relatives of Armenian and Nagorno-Karabakh high-ranking officials are among those arrested — from the prosecutor’s son to a relative of NKR Deputy Defense Minister, General Samvel Karapetyan (Oganovski).

Recall, head of the public relations department at the Kentron (“Central”) police station Armen Malkhasyan had said earlier, “Operative activities are being carried out with the aim of nullifying the threat posed by individuals suspected of a grave [serious] crime.” He did not provide additional details.
