It was Right to Begin Sit-in and Right to End It: Ter-Abrahamyan

Unlike in 2008, at the Armenian National Congress’ recent eight-day rally in Liberty Square, the opposition was not the center of the city and which created the pulse, but an isolated political current, wrote publicist Hrant Ter-Abrahamyan on his Facebook page.

“That’s why it was right to end the sit-in at this time. But it was also right to do it [in the first place], even if to check your potential and connection. You shouldn’t be afraid of or collapse from reality; on the contrary, to see reality is the aim of cognizant people. So we have to summarize all the outcomes of this test, negative and positive, and to understand, to give meaning and move forward,” he wrote.

In his opinion, Armenia is permanently in a state of revolution because it forms a part of the “kleptocratic system.”

“So the issue is how to correctly organize the current potential. In my opinion, we gained time with our sit-in, we freed ourselves of a great burden, and now we can comfortably and completely unhurried weigh our future steps. And each one of us to take on a greater responsibility, not waiting for the platform [to do so].

“The sit-in was ordered. I said prior to the sit-in and I continue to insist it now. Without the sit-in, we would definitely lose. This was my decision, my sit-in and it’s my struggle. It’s not [Armenian National Congress (HAK) leader] Levon’s, nor [HAK representative] Nikol’s, it’s no one’s, just mine. The responsibility too is mine. These are not [simply] beautiful remarks; this is how it is for me and became more so,” he concluded.
