Two children from the same family died and two others were injured when a fire erupted in a tent set up for quake survivors in the eastern province of Van on Friday, Today’s Zaman reports.
The incident took place in a tent in Karpuzalan village. The fire was reportedly caused by a heating stove in the Tolukan family’s tent.
Last Sunday, a 7-year-old girl died of pneumonia in Van. The girl had been hospitalized after falling sick while living in a makeshift tent.
Thousands of quake victims are taking shelter in tents in Van after the province was hit by two earthquakes in the past two months. The two quakes had magnitudes of 7.2 and 5.6, killing 644 people and leaving thousands of others homeless.
