From Mar. 3 to Nov. 28, 2011, the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office received 2,904 complaint appeals, 1,307 of which were written, while 1,597 were verbal.
As in 2010, so too in 2011, the complaint appeals that received a positive resolution mainly referred to:
– depriving individuals of the right to family (social) benefits; errors in pension payments
– not discharging from RA Armed Forces individuals in violation of the RA Law on Military Service, drafting to military service men who have health issues
– not providing medical assistance
– demolishing kiosks
– not providing information
– not fulfilling the court ruling by the Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service
– not providing a passport based on unreasonable excuses
– dismissing people from employment
As reported by the RA Human Rights Defender’s Office, from Nov. 1 to 28, 2011, the “116” number provided by the Ombudsman’s Office received 405 calls, of which 246 were provided with legal counsel. These calls mainly referred to the transfer of monies invested in USSR cash savings, depriving or not depriving individuals from family benefits, and so on. Of the 405 calls, 151 were outside of the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction; in particular, they referred to the Defender’s intervention in cases in the court examination stage, reviewing established judicial acts, resolving disputes between individuals, and so on.
