Armenian President Suspected Gun in Dashnak’s Home to be Used for Political Motives: Paper

The large arsenal of weapons found in the Yerevan district of Nor Nork in February might have a connection to RA Police Forces Deputy Commander Vanik Manukyan, reports local daily Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”), citing its source close to the Special Investigations Service.

The impressionable arsenal found in Nor Nork belonged to Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D) member Arshavir Karapetyan. According to one version of the story, the weapons were embezzled from the police and for this embezzlement, on Mar. 3 (that is, 4 days after the arsenal was discovered), Manukyan was arrested. According to the paper, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan considers this a political case, as he suspects that the weapons were to be used for political motives.

Furthermore, Haykakan Jamanak reports, the robbery from the home of ARF-D Bureau chair Hrant Margaryan in Yerevan on Apr. 2 wasn’t robbery, in fact, but an unofficial search of his home. It was reported earlier in the press that stolen from Margaryan’s home were jewelry, bank cards and a gun.
