Majority of Armenian MPs Didn’t Participate in Karabakh Recognition Vote

A bill to recognize the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, proposed by head of the Heritage Party parliamentary faction Zaruhi Postanjyan, was put to a vote in Armenia's National Assembly today. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Rule of Law (OEK), Prosperous Armenia party (BHK), and the Armenian National Congress (HAK) all stated that they won't be participating in the vote.

Independent MP Khachatur Kokobelyan also made the same statement. Voting in favor were the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun, or ARF-D), Hrant Bagratyan, Nikol Pashinyan, and Heritage Party MPs. Alexander Arzoumanian abstained.

The bill was not passed due to lack of quorum.
