An Etchmiadzin man who two days ago sewed his mouth shut protesting outside the presidential palace with his wife and young children today decided to end the sit-in, remove the stitches he placed over his mouth, and go home. Ashot Khudoyan this morning was invited to meet with RA General Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan and state his case.
About one-and-half hours later, Ashot returned to his place of protest and said that the general prosecutor assigned the newly appointed prosecutor in Armavir marz (province) to conduct a second examination of the documents.
"He said, we'll present your demands again, I will be kept up to date, and according to that, we'll see what's happening," said Ashot.
The hunger striker said his intention was for either the prosecutor general or the Armenian president to be informed of his case. Now the Etchmiadzin resident is again preparing to gather all the necessary documents and submit them for examination.
Ashot said he won't be removing his posters from outside the Baghramyan metro (where the presidential palace is located) just yet and will wait to see how the investigation moves forward.
Recall, Ashot claims his grandfather's will was forged, claiming that his sister and brother, as well as state agency employees are to blame. Since January, he has repeatedly held sit-ins outside the presidential residence, and two days ago, he decided to sew his mouth shut. Yesterday police officers forcibly put Ashot in an ambulance and sent him to a psychiatric clinic, where he was released at the end of the day.
