No Money in Armavia Owner’s Account for Forfeiture, to Pay Unpaid Wages

Owner of Armenian airline company Armavia Mikhail Baghdasarov (pictured) has not yet paid the salaries owing to former employees. As reported by local daily Zhoghovurd, Baghdasarov "continues to search for money."

In conversation with the paper, Armavia Chief Financial Officer Hrayr Sahakyan said there's nothing new to report regarding the wages. "I can say that the management is aware and is working in that direction, to find money quickly and cover all the debts — the priority, of course, being the salaries," he said.

According to former employees, currently there is "not [even] a penny" in Baghdasarov's bank account, to be able to confiscate the amount.

Note, Armavia ceased operations in March 2013. The company has tax obligations to the state, unpaid wages to former employees, as well as the issue of refunding tickets for flights that were cancelled.
