Singer, MP Shushan Petrosyan Called Journalists “Immoral”

Singer, Republican Party of Armenia MP Shushan Petrosyan (pictured) today insulted Ruzanna Stepanyan, a journalist with RFE/RL's Armenian service, when the latter asked her to comment on the shooting that occurred on Saturday near the "Vernissage" market in Yerevan.

"You're immoral, you're all immoral," Petrosyan said, pointing to members of the media standing near her.

Before uttering these words, the lawmaker asked the audio recorder to be turned off.

Then, Chorrord Inqnishkhanutyun newspaper reporter Melanya Tsarukyan approached Petrosyan, but the latter didn't allow her to ask her any questions, saying: "Get out of here!"

Journalists accredited in parliament are currently discussing whether to collect signatures and appeal to the National Assembly Ethics Commission.

Note, this is not the first time a Member of Parliament has insulted journalists. In December 2013, MP Arakel Movsisyan called journalists who organized a protest in parliament "monkeys".
