Ukraine Explains Why It Returned Its Ambassador to Armenia

Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to return its ambassador, Ivan Kukhta (pictured), to Armenia after Armenia congratulated Petro Poroshenko's victory in the presidential elections in Ukraine, director of the information policy department of Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Perebiynis informed RBC-Ukraine [RU].

"The Armenian side welcomed the election of the president of Ukraine, and expressed hope for constructive cooperation with Ukraine," he said, adding that the ambassador already assumed his duties this week.

Recall, the Ukrainian foreign affairs ministry recalled its ambassador from Armenia in late March, after Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan spoke positively about the referendum in Crimea on joining Russia.
