A.Tamaryan was arrested and beaten in a Vanadzor police department. Tamaryan had called and informed a public monitoring group supervising police detention about the incident. During the phone conversation, the inmate informed that he was being held at a detention facility within the Vanadzor city’s Taron police dempartment after he was beaten by police and that he did not receive proper medical attention. According to Tamaryan, he is also suffering from a mental illness.
In the monitoring group’s message it notes that members of the group met with A. Tamaryan and recorded wounds on his body and other issues related to the case. The monitoring group presented a statement to the Prosecutor General and the Special Investigative Services
The group notes that after the appropriate steps are taken, it will comment further on the incident.
