In the beginning of May, CJSC Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) will appeal to the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) with a claim to increase the tariff for electricity supplied to consumers, Armenian daily Haykakan Zhamanak reports.
According to the daily’s sources, it will be proposed to increase the electricity rates by 6 drams. Thus, a kilowatt-hour of energy will cost 48 drams during the daytime, and 38 drams – the nighttime. In addition, it will be announced that Russia has decreased the price of natural gas supplied to Armenia – from the current $189 (1,000 cu. m.) to $167.
Unlike the change in electricity tariff, Haykakan Zhamanak notes, the decrease in gas price will not directly affect the consumers; it will only ensure that the rate for natural gas supplied to Armenian consumers does not go further up.
“If the prices of natural gas supplied to Armenia were not decreased, the final tariff for gas supplied to consumers would have gone up by at least 5-6 percent due to the devaluation of the American dollar,” the daily concludes.
