7 Killed in a Car Accident in Armenia’s Lori Province

Seven people were killed in a major car accident in the Armenian Lori province on the night of June 6. According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations, the accident occurred on the eighth kilometer of Tashir-Stepanavan highway, near the village of Saratovka. 

In still unknown circumstances, the statement said, a Volkswagen Touareg without a registration plate went off the road, crashed into rocks, and caught fire. Karen Khachatryan (born in 1993), Vanik Mardoyan (1994), Gevorg Poghosyan (1991), Arman Tonoyan (1993), Gaspar Ghukeyan (1993), Vahag Albertyan (1991), Artur Balyan (1993) were killed in the crash. 

A criminal investigation into the case has been initiated by the RA Investigative Committee, pursuant to part 3 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code (Breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation, which negligently caused the death of 2 or more persons).
