Armenia's gas filling stations are going to considerably increase prices for gas in the near future, local “Haykakan Zhamanak” writes citing own sources.
Thus, gas prices will rise by 10-12 %. Gas stations, as reported by the paper, will justify this decision by the recent hike in electricity tariffs in Armenia.
“The thing is electricity consumption at filling stations is quite high: it's used by hyper compressors for high pressure gas pumping. On August 1 electricity prices in Armenia went up by nearly 15 %. And while the hike will at least be subsidized for the population in the coming months, tariffs for large businesses are still subject to increase. Gas filling stations are not included in the list of subsidized business entities.
“Electricity bills calculated in accordance with the newly increased tariff will be received next week, and the owners of gas stations will make their final decision on how much to raise fuel prices,” “Haykakan Zhamanak” writes.
