Arman Ghandinyan, a 19-year-old soldier of a northeastern military unit of Nagorno-Karabakh's Defense Army, died at around 2 am Wednesday “as a result of a breach of combat duty rules,” the press service of NKR's Defense Ministry said today. The official statement did not elaborate.
Note, another 19-year-old Defense Army soldier, Arayik Ordubekyan, had died on September 2 “when carrying out combat duties,” according to NKR military authorities.
Armenia's Investigative Committee, for its part, reported yesterday, again without any elaboration, that Gegham Yeghiazaryan, a serviceman of a southwestern military unit of Armenia's Armed Forces, was found dead Monday afternoon at the bottom of a cliff on the road leading to combat positions.
In an August 30 report, Safesoldiers.am presented the statistics of RA and NKR army non-combat fatalities for the last six years, stating that over the period 2010-2015 the armed forces suffered a total of 206 casualties, of which 48 were results of suicides and 43 results of murders.
