Sexism and Gender-Based Violence in Armenian TV Series

The Armenian media field is filled with sexist publications and TV series/movies with scenes depicting violence against women. In addition to representing a woman as a sex object, Armenian television often gives airtime to TV series in which violence against women is a predominant feature.

On Wednesday, a video showing scenes of violence against women from various Armenian TV series and movies was posted on the official Facebook page of the Different and Equal social media campaign, conducted as part of World Vision Armenia’s Caring for Equality project.

The accompanying text says the clips were collected as a result of a quick 2-3-hour viewing of several TV series of Armenian production.

Viewer discretion is advised.
