The Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan train operated by South Caucasus Railway CJSC will run faster this summer, according to the company’s official website.
Last year, the trip from Yerevan to Batumi took 18 hours, while the trip from Batumi to Yerevan took 18 hours 13 minutes.
Now, however, passengers from Yerevan will arrive in Batumi in 16 hours and 37 minutes, while the return trip will take 16 hours and 55 minutes.
The reason? According to South Caucasus Railway, the railway lines and fleet of cars have been renovated, resulting in increased speed.
The company will service the Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan route daily beginning Jun. 15. There will be an additional train on Tuesdays and Fridays. Passengers are encouraged this year to purchase tickets through the Orion automated tickets sales and reservation system in order to reduce wait times and reserve their seats.
