Baku Demonstrators Warned: ‘Georgia Variant’ Won’t be Tolerated

“We have information that the radical opposition, planning to hold an unsanctioned rally outside the Narimanov cinema on Jun. 19, is preparing for the ‘Georgian variant.’ But let them not forget that, if necessary, the illegal demonstration by the structure calling itself the Public Chamber will be prevented through more severe measures,” said deputy chief of Baku police, Colonel Sahlab Bagirov, speaking to APA news agency.

Bagirov noted that guaranteeing security at rallies agreed by Baku authorities is the task of the police. “At the same time, demonstrators shouldn’t forget that preventing illegal actions, massive violations of law and order and public safety is the duty of the police.”
