The Armenian defense ministry reports that at around 12:40 pm on Oct. 12, in one of the military units in Nagorno-Karabakh in the north, Armenian conscript Yurik Nersisyan, 19, while on duty on the front line, shot and killed himself with his own gun.
The ministry reports that the details regarding the incident are currently being confirmed and an investigation is underway.
Recall, on Oct. 9, another draftee, Vladimir Asatryan, 19, also reportedly shot and killed himself in another military unit in the unrecognized republic.
Note, in the last year or so there have been several high-profile incidents of non-combat deaths in Armenia’s Armed Forces, some of which initially were deemed to be suicides. In these cases, relatives of the deceased soldier have insisted that it was not suicide but murder.
