A draft law on “Fundamental aspects of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) and the Republic of Armenia’s political-military security”, suggested by Heritage Party faction MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, will be discussed during National Assembly’s this week's four-day work session, although the National Assembly’s foreign relations standing committee did not see it in a positive light.
National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan stressed that the discussion will take place tomorrow at 2:30pm, because the Heritage faction presented the draft as an urgent issue.
The draft law was discussed at the National Assembly's outgoing session, in NKR, however, according to Postanjyan’s assessment, the discussion had deliberately failed, because MP Alexander Arzumanyan had motioned to convene a closed session.
The Heritage Party’s suggestions in the draft law are:
1. Recognize NK/Artsakh as an independent state;
2. Exclude peacekeepers, customs checkpoints, or other structures from international organizations on the state borders between NK/Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia;
3. Exclude the deployment of troops from other states or international organizations on the republics of NK/Artsakh, Armenia, and Azerbaijan’s borders;
4. Exclude the Republic of Armenia’s membership to any entity that would danger the sovereignty and territorial integrity of NK/Artsakh and the Republic of Armenia.
