Karabakh Army Soldier Killed by Azeri Fire – Official

20-year-old Armenian soldier Simon R Chavrshyan was fatally wounded at around 4 am on February 5 by fire from the Azerbaijani side at a military unit of the Nagorno Karabakh (NKR) Defense Army deployed in the southern direction of the line of contact between NKR and Azerbaijani forces, the NKR defense ministry said Friday.

According to the Karabakh military authorities' official statement, on the night of February 4-5, the tension on the line of contact between NKR and Azerbaijan increased noticeably: “Azerbaijani forces fired around 1500 shots in the direction of Armenian positions from various caliber weapons.”
