As Far As Theatre is Concerned, Authorities are Indifferent

Hamazgayin State Theatre Artistic Director Sos Sargsyan and Director Vardan Mkrtchyan held a press conference today.

In Sos Sargsyan’s opinion, there’s no state and no statehood without theatre. 

He noted regretfully that theatre today isn’t fulfilling its public role. “Theatre isn’t helping the construction of the state for one plain reason, because for a long time the ruling authorities were indifferent,” he said. 

He noted that theatre today has numerous issues and one of those is that it has lowered its level, criticism is absent.

“It’s also absurd that someone or other prohibited selling theatre tickets in schools. With this, we are being deprived of tomorrow’s audience,” said Sarsgyan.
