In an interview with local Armenian daily Hraparak yesterday, People’s Party of Armenia leader Tigran Karapetyan resented the interviewer’s question on whether it was possible that he become “OEK-2” (that is, the second Rule of Law Party), and said, “I’m not Arturik, he’s a rascal before me, I’m above everyone else.” Today Hraparak reported future developments in the events.
“Apparently, Karapetyan’s statement had infuriated Rule of Law party members, who called Karapetich [Karapetyan] and asked to settle the score. The latter, in order to save himself, said he had said no such thing and that he would ask for a retraction from Hraparak.
“However, calling the editorial offices, Mr. Karapetyan simply explained, by saying ‘rascal’ he meant [OEK party leader Arthur] Baghdasaryan’s age. Moreover, he asked nothing to be published in his name, he is the master of his words. But until late at night, OEK was calling and asking, didn’t Karapetich [Karapetyan] put forth a retraction, they had promised a thousand percent,” writes Hraparak.
