Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev spoke on the eve of nationwide celebrations on the occasion of Nowruz.
In his speech, Aliyev particularly touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. “The most important issue facing the country is the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This issue can be resolved only within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. Another option to address the issue does not exist.
“We pay great attention also to building the army. Sometimes this bothers certain foreign countries. If the issue can be resolved by peaceful means, then of course, a military option cannot be considered.
“Nagorno-Karabakh will never be granted independence. People currently living in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Azerbaijanis who will definitely go back must live in conditions of autonomy. Azerbaijan will not retreat from this position of principle,” he said, report various Azerbaijani media.
