Armenian MP Urges PACE Colleagues to Refrain from Bashing Yulia Tymoshenko

At the last PACE Political Affairs Committee meeting, Prosperous Armenia MP, member of Armenia’s delegation to PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) Naira Zohrabyan urged her colleagues to refrain from making extremist statements about former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko (pictured).

Speaking to Epress.am, Zohrabyan said there were several “extremist” assessments made at the last committee meeting.

“Some were saying that Tymoshenko is a political oppressor, while others insisted that she is corrupt and has to provide answers. I made a speech and urged everyone to refrain from extremist statements since there is still a judicial process and our issue should be to follow [the case] so that Tymoshenko’s trial is as open as possible,” she said.

The Armenian Member of Parliament also stated that last week, during the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly ordinary session, she met with a MP from Ukraine’s Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc who expressed her position.

Recall, a few MPs from Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (“Supreme Council”) appealed to Zohrabyan in writing to come out in major international platforms in defense of Tymoshenko, who was arrested last month.
