Number of Car Accidents Exceeded Armenian Motor Insurers’ Bureau Forecasts

In the first 8 months of 2011, around 15,000 claimants or their representatives submitted claims to the Armenian Motor Insurers’ Bureau, 13,850 of whom received approximately 2.85 billion drams in compensation from the Bureau. Furthermore, insurance claims of about 1 billion drams are currently being settled, said Armenian Motor Insurers’ Bureau Executive Director Vahan Avetisyan during the parliamentary hearings at the National Assembly today.

According to him, they had expected around 20,477 insurance claims annually — or around 1,706 monthly or 56 daily.

However, the number of claims they’ve received and the number of individuals they have compensated has surpassed their expectations.

“That is, we can say that there are around 55 road traffic accidents occur daily in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. These figures exceeded the amount forecast by the Bureau by 9%. That is, we had predicted a little lower in terms of the number of accidents,” he added.
