Haykakan Jamanak (“Armenian Times”) reports that MP Samvel Aleksanyan informed its reporter that Football Federation of Armenia president, MP Ruben Hayrapetyan today or tomorrow will be nominated as a candidate in no. 1 electoral district for the upcoming parliamentary elections. Recall, Hayrapetyan recently stated he would not be running in the elections, but only his friend Samvel Aleksanyan could convince him otherwise.
The paper reports that Aleksanyan called Hayrapetyan and convinced him to run in the elections under the majoritarian system (as an individual).
Chorrord Inqnishkhanutyun (“Fourth Self-Authority”) reports that Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) deputies in parliament yesterday were complaining of the party’s list of candidates nominated to run in the upcoming elections, believing that many of them don’t have a shot at getting into parliament again.
168 Zham (“168 Hours”) reports that Armenian authorities are registering large numbers of residents from the regions in the capital in order to ensure votes they require in the May 6 parliamentary elections. The paper reports, according to rumors, this is being done so that ballot stuffing is avoided so that the “elections take place with no noise and ‘legitimately’.”
Yerkir reports that Armenian Christian Democratic Union (HKDM) party leader Khosrov Harutyunyan is glad that Hayk Babukhanyan and Artashes Geghamyan are with him in the list of top 20 candidates nominated by the Republican Party of Armenia in its party list for the upcoming parliamentary election.
Asked how is it that at one time Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan called Geghamyan a wild pig but now he’s on the party’s list, Harutyunyan said such things can be forgotten and Geghamyan should be praised for other qualities.
The HKDM party leader also believed singer Shushan Petrosyan’s entry into parliament would be a good thing.
