Each US entry visa applicant must demonstrate strong social, economic and professional ties, among other ties, to their home country in order to qualify for a visa, the US Embassy in Armenia’s press office informed Epress.am, responding to a request for comments on a letter sent by Yerevan-based Helsinki Association for Human Rights to US Ambassador John Heffern, in which the human rights group suggests that several Armenian judges should not be granted entry visas to the US.
Earlier, Helsinki Association president Mikael Danielyan and attorney Gayane Khachatryan informed Epress.am that these judges and prosecutors have permitted numerous gross procedural violations in several criminal cases in recent years, the victims of which to whom the Association was providing legal assistance.
The embassy in Yerevan did not wish to provide further comments and pointed out that the US Embassy does not comment on individual visa cases.
