‘Let’s Put Aside Erotica, Shall We?’ Police Chief Likes All Political Parties

RA Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, in conversation with local daily Hraparak, said he likes the plans of all political parties in Armenia.

“If, by and large, we look at all their plans, a little to the right, a little to the left, but they’re the same plans, so there isn’t an issue of liking or not liking [them],” he said.

Asked if being appointed as police chief in the election campaign period testifies to his active role in these elections (and moreover, that he doesn’t like the Prosperous Armenia Party), Gasparyan said: “Let’s put aside erotica, who we like, who we don’t like, shall we? If it’s a matter of who to like, I like my homeland, and I want everything to be done properly in my country. What does it mean not liking this or that party?”

The police, according to Gasparyan, is an apolitical structure, and as for his involvement in the election campaign period, during any election period the role of the police is very serious — it’s tied to different types of legal offenses, beginning from accurately defining the lists and ensuring the security of candidates and polling booths.

On the reforms taking place in the police force, Gasparyan considered them positive: “Crimes committed in the past are being solved.”

“Another tumultuous murder will be solved in the coming days,” he said.
