Goris Mayoral Elections Will Be Tense: Zhoghovurd

Goris residents are confident that the upcoming June 8 mayoral elections will be tense because one of the candidates, Director of the Goris branch of Armenian Water and Sewerage CJSC Vachagan Adunts, is backed by the former regional governor of Syunik Surik Khachtryan, while the other, Goris Gamma OJSC Executive Director Tigran Karapetyan, is supported by current Syunik regional governor Vahe Hakobyan, reports local daily Zhoghovurd

Hakobyan, in conversation with the newspaper, said there is no need to "give a political context" to the issue.

"We are friends and I am proud of him [Tigran Karapetyan]," he said.

According to Hakobyan, there is no tension between the candidates, but he added: "We are ready for any developments."
