Why Number of Istanbul-Yerevan Flights Reduced: Newspaper

The frequency of flights from Istanbul to Yerevan has decreased, owner of Tower airline company, prominent Armenian businessman based in Turkey Tigran Altun told the Armenian-Turkish newspaper Agos published in Turkey. Instead of flights operating twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday), there will now be flights only once a week (Sunday).

In this regard, Yerevan-based newspaper Haykakan Zhamanak contacted Tigran Altun to determine what is the reason for this move and whether this is a permanent change. Altun found it difficult to present a clear picture of the future, only saying that the current situation is very serious and worrying. "90% of our customers are petty trade merchants, and if before they would come to Yerevan once a month, now they come once every 3–4 months. This means, they're unable to sell the goods they bring, and so they don't come. They tell us if there's no money, why should they come? When they can't sell what they bring, why should they come?" Altun told the Yerevan-based newspaper over the phone.

Altun mentioned that the number of customers began to decline since October of last year.
