Pashinyan Suggests Parliamentary Delegation Be Sent to Karabakh to Discuss Lachin Incident

Today, the issue of violence implemented against members of the Founding Parliament movement in Nagorno-Karabakh was raised during a National Assembly session.

“A monstrous event took place in Berdzor, I think it was a serious blow to the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh. It would not be an exaggeration to say that society is in a state of shock after what happened,” stated Armenian National Congress faction MP Nikol Pashinyan.

He proposed that the National Assembly create a parliamentary delegation and go to Stepanakert with the intention of discussing the incident with NKR MPs. NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov called for MPs to only make statements strictly on the topics listed on the daily agenda. NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan, however, turned to Pashinyan’s statement, saying, “First, I’ll try to discuss the question with my colleague, the NKR Parliaments Speaker. I think, the relevant bodies in Karabakh are already dealing with the issue, I’ll try to gather some information, and answer your statement.”

Note that on January 31st, the Lachin (Berdzor) NKR police representatives and civilian clothed individuals violently beat Founding Parliament members, who had organized a car rally to Nagorno-Karabakh. The attackers also smashed the rally participants' cars.
