Senior Lieutenant Arrested For Suspected Murder of Soldier

A soldier, senior lieutenant Taron Gedeonyan was arrested in connection to a criminal case into the murder of 24-year old lieutenant Tigran Simonyan, who died from a gunshot wound in NKR base on February 10. Gedeonyan is suspected of violating combat duty regulations as a result of negligence or bad faith that caused grave consequences.

Tigran Simonyan’s relatives had earlier stated to that they did not consider the official thesis of the death to be reasonable, according to which, the incident occurred at a military post, when Tigran and his fellow serviceman heard a dog barking; they came out to check the situation. The young men ran in different directions and at one point met each other, at which point the soldier’s fellow released a shot which gave Tigran a fatal wound. 

“I don’t want to blame anyone, but my Tigran had problems with no one,” said Tigran’s mother, Armanush Simonyan.
