A decision was passed by the Government of Armenia during its session today to allocate 9 million 630 thousand AMD to the RA Ministry of Culture to renovate the roof of the National Academic Opera & Ballet Theatre named after A. Spendiaryan.
According to the government’s Information and Public Affairs Department, the Armenian government took into account that the theater building is a unique monument and it’s necessary to properly preserve it, so with the allocated amount it will be possible to renovate 600 square meters of the dilapidated sections of the roof.
Epress.am attempted to find out from the RA government when the renovations would begin. The Information and Public Affairs Department employee advised us to contact the Ministry of Culture, saying that it was the ministry which would oversee the reconstruction work.
RA Ministry of Culture press secretary Gayane Durgaryan informed Epress.am that after the decision has been ratified, a request for proposals will be issued and a contract will be signed with the winning tender, after which renovation work will begin. Describing the procedure, Dugaryan said that she’s unable to state even the deadlines for implementing the process.
