Turkey is preparing to temporarily open the border for the NATO disaster relief exercises taking place in Armenia from September 11–17, said Turkish President Abdullah Gul in a joint press conference a few days ago with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, reports 1news.az.
“We discussed this matter earlier. It’s important to discuss all the issues, resolve them within peaceful means, so that the Caucasus becomes a region of peace and cooperation. All this will lead to a broader regional cooperation, opening of borders, the creation of new roads, more active economic cooperation. That’s why we’re carrying out such a volume of activity. Sometimes we hold open discussions, while other times you don’t see it: this is diplomacy. The big issues are resolved this way, without making noise; however, resolutely,” said Gul, who is in Baku for a two-day official visit.
